More about Me.
As a teenager growing up and then into my early twenties I was never a very competitive person. This did change. I bought a Nissan Patrol four wheel drive when I was twenty two. I bought the four wheel drive to do some touring and I did plenty but it wasn't long before touring just wasn't enough. I took on a 24 hour navigational competition with my brother, Matthew, as navigator. We ended up in the top ten for our class. The following year we were back and got 4th in our class. After a couple of navigational competitions we decided to have a go at the Outback Challenge which is a mix of navigation and extreme four wheel driving which runs for a week. We did quite well in our class. Over a period of several years competiting the vehicle over went many modifications including a new V8 motor amoungst a huge list of things. As I was entering my thirties, my wallet was getting thinner and my waist was getting larger so I decided to part with the much loved four wheel drive and take on mountain biking. My first moutain bike competition was a crit at WestGate ran by FGP. I didn't do so well, I finished about 3rd last in my class. This just proved I had a lot more work to do so I went out and did it. Two years later I took out 1st place at Westgate. I now have many kilometers in the legs both from the mountain bike and from the road bike. Now I'd love to work on my running...
